RePotme Imperial Oncidium Orchid Mix is hand made with extraordinary ingredients. We start with plenty of small cork nuggets imported from Portugal, small Monterey Pine bark from New Zealand(Orchiata or Kiwi) and then mix them with chopped and rice hulls. It is an excellent choice for a variety of fine rooted orchid plants including seedlings, Brassia, Catasetum, Cynoches, Epidendrum, Encyclia, Lycaste, Masdevallia, and Miltonia, Oncidium/Odontoglossum, Oncidium Intergenerics and Zygopetalum.

This orchid mix blend has small particle ingredients that allow delicate root systems to thrive and is designed to promote effective nutrient uptake due to increased root contact with the medium.

The Imperial Cube is packed in its own box measuring 10" x 10" by 10" and sealed with a clear plastic liner. Our Imperial orchid mixes are probably the finest plush mixes available anywhere and are perfect for the orchids in your collection.

Oncidium Basics:
Blooms:	Winter
Water:	Water thoroughly then allow to dry out very briefly between waterings.
Light:	Bright light
Temperature:	Intermediate growing, minimum temp of 55 degrees, maximum of 95
Fertilize:	FEED ME! Weakly, weekly Increase amount by 50% from May-September
Growth Habit:	Sympodial, grows new pseudobulbs every year. Bloom spikes emerge from new pseudobulbs at the base of the new pseudobulb, usually in fall or winter. Old pseudobulbs will not bloom again but continue to support the plant until old and shriveled.
Look for:	New pseudobulbs in the Spring and Summer, Spikes in the Fall, Blooms in the Fall or Winter
Taxonomy:	Genus Oncidium Tribe Cymbidieae
Natural Cues:	Oncidiums take their bloom cue from the shortening day length in the Fall.

Thanks again on the always wonderful products, super speedy shipping, and awesome customer service. My orchids are glad to see the larger pots. They are potted in your media and fed the MSU fertilizer. They are huge with roots galore. I have already repotted one Phal., which had roots literally bursting out of its pot and climbing over the edges. Just waiting for the rest of the blooms to fall from the others, in order to repot. In addition, back in March, I bought a "Garbage / Clearance" NO ID Phal. from a store for $5, with blooms so sad and falling off, but the roots looked healthy and strong, and the plant was huge. I just can't let a good plant get thrown away. I repotted it in the Imperial Monterey Mix that I had on hand, with a sad bloom or two still trying to hang on. (I know this is a No No, but what could it hurt?) Since then, it began growing new roots and leaves. The spike even began to grow / elongate, adding new buds, and rewarded me with 7 new blooms, the size of your palm. A testament that your products work wonders.

I have owned several phals for about 6 years. One or two have not bloomed since the original purchase years ago. However, I found your website and purchased the necessary items to repot my phals. Well, let me tell you, the one that hasn't bloomed in 6 years has now put on a spike in the last week. At first I thought it was a root, but, low and behold, it is a spike. And, only after I repotted it. I must tell you that the roots were a mess, many rotted. Repotting Orchids

Do take the time to learn to repot orchids. They don't grow in dirt! We love to repot orchids, to examine them slowly and enjoy their new roots. Orchids resent being left in the same media forever. Do yourself a favor and pick a media that suits your environment and your habits. If you love to water your plants, put them in a medium that drys out quickly. If you don't have a lot of time for watering, do the opposite. Figure out what works for you. The plants will tell you when they are happy.

There are few hard & fixed rules and that's hard for beginners with only a few plants. Don't let that stop you. If you collect a few plants you will likely buy ones in bark, moss, rock, peat moss, etc. See which medium works best for you in your conditions and begin to transition similar plants into the same mix. Repotting when the plant is in active growth helps it to reestablish itself very quickly.
